Viking Army Plunges For Special Olympics
On February 24th, 2018, Viking Army (RBNY - MLS) participated in the Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside Heights, NJ to benefit the Special Olympics of New Jersey. The proceeds from this event goes towards equipment, on-site trainers, doctors, massage therapy, and lots more for the athletes year rounds. This is their 3rd year participating in this awesome event where they run into the Atlantic Ocean at frigid temperatures. It may sound crazy to throw your body into freezing water, but the cause is worth it, says Viking Army Board Member, Brett Saganiec. Saganiec says,
"The Polar Bear Plunge is an amazing event. We do something crazy to help support the athletes so they can have the time of their lives and compete. Viking Army has a Special Olympics athlete in our club as well so this was a no brainer for us to support him and everyone else. The Special Olympics will always have a special place in my heart whether I'm volunteering or raising money. You learn more about life watching these athletes compete than you would in a classroom or everyday life."
Viking Army ended up raising $5899 for the cause with the entire event raising $2,142,296. Check out the video they made of the event!
