Statement of Condemnation of Dan DiMicco

Hate has no place in North American soccer culture. With the rise in violence against the Asian community and the continued targeting of people of color, the Independent Supporters Council condemns the hate speech, blatant racism, and conspiracy theories from Charlotte Independence owner Dan DiMicco. The ISC calls for action to be taken by the United Soccer League (USL) Championship. The USL has created an Impact Committee that has identified four main areas of concern including anti-racism efforts and community engagement, but they allow DiMicco to continuously use hateful and dangerous rhetoric while going unchecked. The council urges the USL in putting action behind their words in making the league a safe place for all athletes, fans, and supporters.
